Bachata is a genre of music and social dance originating from the Dominican Republic. Nowadays, Bachata is a global phenomenon danced all around the world.
Bachata has evolved from bolero, son and merengue and is usually danced with partners. The music is characterised by its distinctive guitar sound and the way the rhythm guides your movement.
There are several styles of Bachata danced today — from the original Traditional style (also called Dominican Bachata), to Bachata Moderna and Bachata Sensual, each with its own flavour, technique and music.
